Description
Crispy, flavorful hip hop fish and chicken—perfect for a quick, tasty dinner! Ready in 30 mins.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb cod fillets (fresh or thawed)
- 1 lb chicken wings (split into flats and drums)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 4–6 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- Lemon wedges (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Fish and Chicken: Pat the cod fillets and chicken wings dry with paper towels. Set aside.
- Set Up Dredging Station: Grab three shallow bowls. Put flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and mix breadcrumbs with Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in the third.
- Season the Pieces: Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on the fish and chicken.
- Dredge Each Piece: Dip each piece in flour, then egg, then the seasoned breadcrumbs. Press gently to coat well.
- Heat the Oil: Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot, about 2 inches deep. Heat to 350°F (use a thermometer if you have one).
- Fry the Fish: Fry the fish fillets for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon.
- Fry the Chicken: Fry the chicken wings for 6-8 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon.
- Drain and Serve: Place fried pieces on a wire rack or paper towels to drain. Serve hot with lemon wedges if you like!
Notes
- If you don’t have Cajun seasoning, mix 1 tsp each of paprika, cayenne, and onion powder.
- Test oil heat by dropping a breadcrumb in—it should sizzle right away.
- Serve with fries, coleslaw, or hot sauce for that true hip hop fish and chicken vibe!
- For a lighter option, try air frying at 400°F: fish for 10-12 minutes, chicken for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway.
